Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office
SHERIFF ROGER L. HARRIS
Animal Control
The Animal Shelter also houses a low cost spay/neuter clinic which is operated by the Lionhearts, Inc., a local humane organization. With the exception of puppies and kittens that are too young, all dogs and cats adopted from the shelter are neutered or spayed.
The division conducts a rabies clinic on a Saturday during the spring and fall each year in order to enable citizens to vaccinate their pets at cost. The division also conducts public education programs such as rabies awareness and proper animal care/treatment in the public schools and at special events.
